About This Abstract Art

These Abstract Oil Paintings are on masonite which is a hard board about 1/8 of an inch thick. I prepare the board by sanding and gessoing many layers before I paint with oil. This style of painting is fast and fun. Masonite is less expensive than canvas. That makes these paintings less expensive to create and because of that I will sell them at lower prices.
This art work is for the few out there who like this fun, exciting style of abstract expressionism, abstract cubism. It's not mainstream. It's a bold, colorful and edgy.
This is Modern Abstract Art. If you like a painting, make me an offer: charrossmann@aol.com

Picasso Invents Abstract Art!

Yep, way back in about 1900 when Picasso was an unknown artist living in Paris he struggled through his own personal crisis to invent a new kind of art. It was called Cubism. He went to create many more art styles but for the most part no matter what he did the early roots of Cubism were seen in his art work.

There are those who say he stole the ideas he saw in African sculptures to create cubism. The fact is, that's the way art is. It's not called stealing, it's called sharing. Artists are influenced by the world around them, including the work of other artist. I remember a teacher once telling me that copying another person's art is okay unless you also copy the signature.
